I was very pleased to find that there was an extra included with this disc. There is some color bleeding, though it's minor, and the definition isn't very sharp. Even so, there are occasional video dropouts, mainly at the beginning of the first episode, and the image itself isn't very crisp. If you ever paid $20 for a crappy 4 th generation VHS dup, you'll be ecstatic over the way this looks. Obviously taken from videotape, the full screen image isn't the greatest, but it is light years ahead of the bootleg tapes I've seen at SF cons over the years. Nothing terribly annoying, but don't expect the audio quality of a 70's TV show from a major studio. The range is pretty narrow with both the highs and the lows being clipped off, and there's some distortion through both episodes. His genitalia is as visible as a ballet star.The mono soundtrack is rather limited. One amazing detraction (depending on how you want to look at it, then this may not be for kids) is clearly Green Lantern should have wore a protective cup or something. I all but suspect one of the two Saturday morning Captain Marvels were sought for this as well.

Might have been fun back then, but still enjoyable to see these earliest hero depictions. The first one I missed the previous week. I remembered the second program, the roast with Ed McMahon from back when it originally aired and I thought that was dull.

It's so low-budget, you can see people across the street watching when Solomon Grundy and Blac k Canary interact. They could have just run around and fought one another, like wresters (I long ago determined if some sports programs like football wore costumes like superheroes, I would be spellbound). Whoever did this clearly knew the comic books as they even put in the Legion villian of Mordru as the leader, instead of the later hyped up Darkseid.īut the look of many of the performers was accurate. Someone took West, Ward and Gorshin from the campy 60s show and just made it all out comedy, with very good additions of Charlie Callas as Sinestro (with no purple makeup, Callas' face best delivered the Sinestro look), Jeff Altman as the WEather Wizard and Howard Morris as Sinestro.
